For First-Year Students: New student orientation is our way of welcoming you to the campus community, highlighting important information and offices which you will need to be successful at SUNY Poly and a chance to meet other first-year students! Orientation will consist of an exciting and comprehensive schedule of activities and sessions. At New Student Orientation (NSO) you will meet with students, faculty, and staff to help you learn and navigate campus resources so you are able to make the most of your time here. Each student will be placed in a small group led by an Orientation Advisor (OA) who will help you adjust to the social, cultural, and academic aspects of SUNY Poly.


For Transfer Students: New student orientation is our way of welcoming you to the campus community, highlighting important information and offices which you will need to be successful at SUNY Poly. We recognize that you are coming to SUNY Poly with previous college experience and offer an Orientation program that meets your transfer needs. You will be provided with valuable information about campus resources, meet fellow transfer students and have an opportunity to ask your questions for a smooth start to your semester.

For First-Year Students: For residential students, you will move-in August 22nd from with Orientation kicking-off to follow immediately after residential move-in.(You will receive an email from Residential Life + Housing with information regarding move-in sign ups the first week of August.) For commuter students, you are welcome to check-in at 1pm for your Orientation. First-year students also have orientation sessions on Friday, August 23 and Saturday, August 24.


For Transfer Students: Residential transfer students will move-in on August 22nd. Information about scheduling a move-in time will be communicated to your SUNY Poly email the week of August 1. All transfer students in a campus-based degree program are required to attend in-person orientation on Friday, August 23rd.Transfer commuter students are able to check-in on 9am on the 23rd. Please continue to check your emails for updates and information.

For First-Year Students: Yes, commuter students are required to attend Orientation. There is content we are required to make sure you have prior to the start of the semester as well as an opportunity to connect with fellow first-year students to enhance your SUNY Poly experience. This includes all days of Orientation: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

For Transfer Students: Transfer Orientation is required of all new transfer students. Those transfer students enrolled in a campus based degree program are required to attend orientation. Online students are required to complete Essentials online and are encouraged to attend our in-person orientation.

For First-Year Students: Family members and supporters are allowed on campus and during move-in only on Thursday, August 24th. Families and supporters will be asked to leave prior to the Orientation program, which will begin promptly at 2:30pm. Additional guest orientation information will be shared via email in late July/early August.

For Transfer Students: Guests are allowed to help those who are living on campus move-in Thursday afternoon, but will be asked to leave prior to the Orientation program beginning Friday morning.

Family and Supporter sessions will be available to any family members of new students at 11am and 1pm on Thursday, August 23rd in the Student Center Multi-purpose Room.
 

Yes, all new, incoming students pay for a one-time orientation fee, assessed on the student's account. You pay for the fee at the same time you pay your bill.

Individuals requesting accommodations should email the Orientation staff at orientation@sunypoly.edu no later than Monday, August 12 if at all possible to make any necessary arrangements.

First-year and Transfer students can view the Orientation schedules online beginning Wednesday evening, August 21. The link will be emailed to all new, incoming students.
